Motability

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. They direct and oversee the Motability Scheme which enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

Wheelchair access vehicles

WAV stands for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle - these are a range of vehicles specifically converted to allow easy access for the wheelchair passenger.

Wheelchair Stowage

Two types of stowage are available; rooftop or boot hoist.

A rooftop system lifts your folding chair to a secure storage box on the roof for either the driver or front passenger. The car boot is then left free for anything else you need.

Boot hoists make it safer and easier to load your wheelchair or scooter. Available for a range of vehicles and wheelchair combinations.

Operation:

Most systems are operated by the press of a button on a remote control once you’ve attached your wheelchair or scooter ready for lifting.
